Dubai and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are no strangers to Web3 and sports. Now the Dubai Verse Cup (DVCC) is teaming up with the Dubai Racing Club (DRC) to bring a new level of horse racing to the metaverse.
The Dubai Verse Cup is a play-to-earn (P2E) metaverse horse racing platform that lets users breed, race, and win crypto with digital horses in the form of NFTs. On January 15th, it announced its partnership with the DRC, organizers of the $30.5 million Dubai World Cup, among other races at Meydan Racecourse.
DVCC rolled out the beta version of the new program, and interested users can use smartphones and augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices to enter the immersive horse racing experience. In the future, DVCC aims to create an open platform that welcomes third-party developers to improve user experience.
The CEO of DVCC said that as a platform that combines Dubaiβs horse racing ecosystem with metaverse gaming, it made sense to partner with the βmost experienced in the industryβ β the Dubai Racing Club.
The move seeks to take advantage of the UAEβs bustling sports and gambling culture. With the collaboration, players will be able to earn rewards in the form of $DVCC tokens based on their racing and breeding performance. The tokens can be used to buy skins, horses, avatars, and other in-game items.
An interesting twist is that users will be able to work together in family units and compete against other families. When someone in a group earns rewards, the entire family is rewarded.
Dubai Stays Busy in the Metaverse
The recent partnership between the Dubai Racing Club and a Web3 metaverse company like DVCC should come as no surprise to folks who pay attention to Web3 news. There are few cities in the world as bullish on Web3 as Dubai. Here are some of our most recent stories of Web3 city.
